Walnut Creek Park Whacks Privet!

Saturday, March 7th, 2020 from 9:00am to 12:00pm (CT)

About

We’ll be making glossy privet, the ligustrum species that grows into a big tree, wish it had grown somewhere else! We will girdle large ones, uproot small ones, and cut down dead ones and put them to use to improve wildlife habitat along the park’s trails.

Glossy privet provides no benefits to native wildlife and chokes out all the plants that can provide food, shelter, and other elements of habitat. It’s amazing how much better the park looks in the areas where it’s already gone.
