Snug Harbor's Heritage Farm is a 2.5 acre production farm utilizing sustainable practices. With the onset of COVID-19, our business model shifted from being restaurant centered to focusing on Community Supported Agriculture. As restaurants are resuming business, Heritage Farm seeks to integrate Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access practices into our business model. One identified mechanism is to prioritize partnerships with food enterprises on Staten Island that are minority-owned or minority-led. We would like the help of a Bonner intern to articulate the various types of enterprise in the local food system (food trucks, suppliers, caterers, restaurants, etc), and to research local community stakeholders active in each of those areas of enterprise.

Duties to perform

  • Online research

  • Creating a list of contacts

  • Drafting an overview of the local food system including identified individual and organizational stakeholders

Key skills and competencies to develop

  • Online research skills

  • Community systems modeling

  • Presentation skills

The ideal candidate

  • Is detail-oriented, self-motivated, interested in local economics and community development.

  • Understand the importance of an intentional, culturally responsive food system. 

  • Have great communication skills. 

  • Passionate about infographics. 

Available and/or required working hours

Remote in alignment with student schedule
