About

Help us get food to people in need! The City operates the Eating Apart Together initiative to deliver food to people experiencing homelessness in Austin. The part of our operation devoted to providing shelf-stable food is back online, thanks to the Austin Independent School District sharing some of its warehouse space with us for the next few weeks. Our goal is to make 4,000 bags of food over two days, to last our distributors through the end of the month.

We need your help to pack bags on from 9am to 4pm on Thursday, June 10 and Friday, June 11, divided into two shifts per day (9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm).

Please sign up for one or both shifts to pack bags at the warehouse. Please only sign up if you are very confident that you can make your full shift.

Some notes about the space and the event:
-- The warehouse is not air conditioned. Please dress appropriately and bring water.
-- There will be masks available on site but ask that you bring your own if you can. We highly encourage volunteers to wear masks at this site.
-- There should be ample street parking outside the facility on Woodbury, but please be mindful of any signage on the street.
-- A member of the EAT team will meet volunteers and guide them into the facility to begin their shifts. Thursday, this will be Zack Shlachter; Friday, this will be Mark Janchar. We will provide participants with a phone number to reach us.
-- Please note, AISD does not permit volunteers under the age of 16.

Thank you for helping us keep our community safe and healthy!
