Provide Childcare to Support Health Education and Literacy (HEAL)

Next date is Wednesday, October 27th, 2021 from 10:00am to 11:30am (ET)

The HEAL Program addresses health literacy through classes for adults seeking to improve their health care knowledge. Literacy is a stronger predictor of a person's health than income, employment status, education level, or race or ethnicity. People with low health literacy are more likely to skip important preventive measures and to enter the health care system when they’re sicker. The Salvation Army is offering an 10 week HEAL class in our community and is looking for volunteers to provide childcare for toddlers of parents in the program. Lack of childcare can be a major barrier for individuals accessing this important resource for the health of their families.

This opportunity is posted by William & Mary to share community needs with interested students. The specific volunteer opportunities are fully managed by the community organizations hosting them and William & Mary does not have any oversight of those experiences.
