After a long year of supporting its community virtually, LaAmistad Afterschool is in need of compassionate, community-minded volunteers to provide its students with homework help and scholastic reinforcement 2-4 days per week. Help stem the tide of COVID-19 learning loss. The goal of LaAmistad is to support Latino students and their families by providing a comprehensive support system through tutoring, mentoring, and resources that promote academic, physical and personal growth.
LaAmistad is seeking volunteers that can provide elementary and middle school age homework help at an after-school program. Volunteers work alongside a staff teacher and parent liaison. No Spanish or education experience necessary!
Field of Interest/Skills: Early Childhood Development, Sociology, Psychology, Nonprofit Administration, Civic Engagement, Spanish, Communications Studies
Time Commitment: Volunteers are encouraged to serve as consistently as possible, but are not bound by any strict requirement to do so. On program days, the time commitment is about 1.5 hours, with 2-4 opportunities to serve per week.
