About
The mission of the Red Cross is to alleviate human suffering by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. As a Donor Ambassador, our volunteers ensure that our blood donors have a stellar donation experience, are thanked, and encouraged to return to donate so our communities need for blood products are met.
The Red Cross is responsible for meeting nearly 40% of the nation's blood supply. The need for blood is constant, so to avoid shortages, it is necessary to be consistently collecting donations in all of our communities. With numerous drives happening daily, volunteers are a crucial part of the process.
Red Cross Donor Ambassadors help ensure that we have efficient drives, and donors who feel welcome and appreciated. Our volunteers will help manage the flow of blood donor appointments, schedule walk-ins, assess donor wellness following donation - giving beverages and snacks to recuperate, and most importantly, ensure our donors are thanked and encouraged to return for future appointments.
Interested volunteers can attend a two hour remote training and then will be ready to schedule their first shift!
Drives take place in every county throughout Oregon and SW Washington. Shifts take place every day of the week, generally during business hours (8am-5pm). Shifts are between 4-6 hours depending on location.
Time Commitment:
Minimum 2 shifts per month, certain fixed locations require recurring weekly or alternating weekly shifts.
