Volunteer with Hygiene 4 All!

Next date is Sunday, October 17th from 6:00pm to Monday, October 18th, 2021 12:00am (PT)

Hygiene4All (H4A) is a fiscally sponsored non-profit pursuing a pathbreaking approach to helping Portland’s unsheltered residents stay clean, healthy, and safe, while developing skills in leadership, advocacy, and civic participation. Our Hygiene Hub is located under the Morrison Bridge which offers attendant-assisted toilets, showers, trash drop-off, and soon to be a laundry exchange. The Hub is designed, guided, and operated by and for our unsheltered community members, with physical and mental health in mind.

Volunteering at the hub would involve sanitizing and cleaning our shower and bathrooms between uses to ensure safety for all patrons, restocking hygiene and clothing products available to patrons, and fostering a sense of safety and community among all patrons and staff.

Generally, volunteers are asked to work one, 3 hour shift every 2 weeks, however we are willing to work with you to create schedule that works for you. This kind of work can be difficult at times, and we want all members of our community to feel supported and fulfilled so we can continue to create a welcoming environment. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Requirement Details: Volunteers are expected to be a self-starting team player who is passionate about offering peer-to-peer hygiene, sanitation, and safety to Portland’s unsheltered houseless community. Volunteers must be committed to continually growing and striving to disrupt and reduce oppressive harm, making sure daily operations and interpersonal relationships run smoothly, and ensuring that the hub is kept clean, orderly, well-stocked and is run in a welcoming and warm way.
