About

Join Texas Conservation Corps for National Public Lands Day in Eastwoods Park!

National Public Lands Day is the largest single-day volunteer event for public lands in the nation, with thousands of Americans mobilizing each year to restore and improve public lands around the country. You can join in this nationwide effort by serving in Eastwoods Parks here in Austin!

In cooperation with Eastwoods Neighborhood Association and the City of Austin, The Texas Conservation Corps will be hosting a public volunteer day to help serve the community. Work with AmeriCorps members for the day while learning to identify and manage some invasive plant species, encourage healthy tree growth, and help clean up the park.

How to be ready for this event:
  • Wear closed-toed shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty.
  • Basic work gloves and tools will be provided (but if you've got your own trash grabber, you're welcome to bring it)
  • Bring sunscreen and bug spray
  • We ask that all participating volunteers come prepared to follow COVID-19 social distancing guidelines and have a face mask handy in the possibility that there is a situation requiring increased proximity to others.
We will have some individual water bottles, but we would like to cut down on plastic waste so everyone is encouraged to bring their own reusable water bottle. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 precautions, there will not be a communal water source to refill water bottles.

Staff trained in First Aid and first aid kits will be on-site.

If you have any questions about the event, send us a GivePulse message or email us at jointxcc@americanyouthworks.org. We're looking forward to serving with you on National Public Lands Day!
