Orientation to Community Engagement Workshop (Virtual)

Monday, September 20th, 2021 from 6:30pm to 7:30pm (ET)

About

All are welcome to join for this workshop, intended to introduce incoming Community Corps members to the history of Providence by using maps as a framework for understanding. Students will be challenged to critically reflect on what stories are both represented and neglected in the data shown. Students will be encouraged to connect reflections on their identity and positionality to community engagement practices through a critical analysis of Brown’s involvement with the the local community. Through this workshop students will ultimately develop a deeper understanding of the complexities of off-campus engagement while learning more about the issues, strengths, and characteristics that define Providence.

All Community Corps members are required to attend at least one Orientation to Community Engagement workshop as a part of their training and participation in the program.

Please note this is the first offering of this workshop; the second will occur on September 21st from 12:00-1:00pm. You are welcome to attend either of these options. Both will be held virtually.
