    ACT Honors College

ACT Honors College asked students to donate items for the Thanksgiving drive. I signed up for 3 cans of candied yams, sugar, napkins, lemonade mix, tea mix, and 2 crates that cost 5 dollars each. My items totaled 17 hours.

ACT Honors College- Other Approved Services Fall 2022

I was a volunteer for SCSU homecoming game at the Champions tent. I was in charge of signing in vip alumni, making sure their needs were met, escorting the royal court across the field and paying attention to the broadcasting on the radio. Overall, it was a good and easy experience however we weren’t provided food which made the long shift difficult.

Campus Clean Up | 4 hours

I participated in campus clean up representing my organization ADL, and my sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. We were able to service our campus environment and collected litter from the entrance side of the university. The experience was not only beneficial for the appearance of Claflin, but for our bonding as Greek unity, which I enjoyed!

Turbo Vote Registration | 2 Hours

TurboVote is a time efficient website that helps you register to vote. I had to re-register for Orangeburg County this year to be able to vote on Election Day and make an impact in my community. I've also spread the information to individuals around campus servicing through my sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Gamma Chi Chapter.

Enroll in TimelyCare (2022-2023) | 2 hours (Open to all students)

Timely Care is a 24-hour outlet used for students when they can't get through to regular in person services for health on campus. It is an efficient tool; however, they do not write excuses which makes the service less effective. Personally, as a student I have breakdowns and days I feel bad mentally and physically and if permitted would need an excuse for a class. Other than this, I've used timely care a few times and plan on using it again in a crisis.

    ACT Mentor/Mentee Sessions (hours vary)

During this week I made sure to continue to communicate with Jamie. Homecoming was coming up so we shared our plans and events we might see each other at. I invited her to the Paint and Chill event I had as well, and at the 90's party, we saw each other and texted during the event.

    ACT Mentor/Mentee Sessions (hours vary)

I talked with Jamie throughout the week and planned on going to some of the events with her. However, she's learning how to spread her wings and is becoming more extroverted, hanging with friends. I saw her at Panther madness and we talked for a while then enjoyed the game. I also made sure to check on her through the week.

    ACT Mentor/Mentee Sessions (hours vary)

During this week I saw Jamie and her friends at the MOVER's Meltdown, we danced and one of her friends wanted to know about my purse. I told her I got it from a trip to Myrtle Beach and we conversed until I had to leave for classes. The weekend of Halloween I asked her if she needed a driver or any assistance for parties etc. and she told me she’d let me know. I ended up going to Kleist and taking a picture of her and her friends in costumes which was a proud moment since she told me before she didn’t have any friends yet.
